James Bond Marathon
On the 25th of November at 9pm a group of 5 hardcore film watchers assembled in the school room of Sowerby Methodist Church and, armed with various drinks and snacks, settled themselves down in front of a TV. And so they were sat there for a large proportion of the next 24 hours, watching 11 different James Bond films.
Arranged by Andy Dalby in order to raise funds for the Neil Project (to help people suffering from leukemia), the team did their very best to stay awake and watch some fine action from Connery, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan. Although there were a few minor drops in collective conciousness (and some loud snoring in some cases!) most of us survived the day.
On Saturday at 9am we were joined by many slightly less "hardcore" film watchers but none-the-less dedicated who stayed for the remaining 12 hours. Supported by family and friends who catered for us at meal times (and possibly provided and incentive for some of us to stay awake) we got through Dr No, From Russia With Love, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, License to Kill, The Man With The Golden Gun, Moonraker, Thunderball, Die Another Day, Octopussy and Goldfinger. (Hey, I remembered them all!)
The event was well turned out and we raised over £600 between us. Weary but satisifed, we disbanded at 9pm.
